“HIRACHAWAN = shallow rice bowl” are so-called contemporary rice bowl from Hakusan Porcelain, in comparison to traditional ones that are deep and narrow for keeping rice warm. Considering modern living where there is no need to worry about food getting cold as old times, ceramic designer Masahiro Mori designed them wide and shallow in order to enjoy it’s various colors and patterns.
They are perfect not only for serving rice, but also appetizer, small dishes, soup, dessert and so on. It has been awarded with “Good Design Prize” in 1993, and “Long Life Design Prize” in 2004.
Made in Japan.
