Block Design began in 2000, shortly after Tara Ashe graduated. She was keen to combine a passion for design with her engineering background, to create a range of functional, beautiful lifestyle products.

The first Block product was a vase, since then Block Design has added desk accessories, jewellery and more homeware to the collection.

Each day the studio is a collaborative hub of creativity, colour and innovation. Every product begins life in the studio, situated above Block Design's workshop. The team works hard to ensure they deliver the highest quality design and finish.

Block Design's aim is to bring joy, infusing life with colour, distinctive design and products made to last.

In 2023 Block Design received certification as a B Corporation, joining a growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit. They have been certified as having met rigorous social and environmental standards which represent their commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit. Block Design is now part of a community of 7,000 businesses globally who have certified as B Corps. As part of 1% For The Planet Block Design is also committed to donating 1% of their annual sales to environmental organizations.
