That’s exactly what the people behind SASSTIE experienced. After dealing with dozens of plastic hair clips that snapped or scratched their scalps, they wanted to treat themselves to a higher-quality clip. But after searching endlessly, they discovered the selection was so limited that the choice came down to either "pretty but low-quality" or "expensive but old-fashioned."

They thought: "Let’s fix this!" Fueled by their passion for hair accessories, they started out in a one-room apartment in Düsseldorf with just a small desk and an old laptop—and something big was born.
